Marlborough – New Zealand's most famous wine region
Marlborough, located in the north of New Zealand's South Island, has earned a worldwide reputation over the last few decades – primarily thanks to its unmistakable Sauvignon Blanc. The style is concise: lively freshness, clear fruit, a striking acidity, and a dry, straightforward finish. Once you have drunk a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, you will recognize it again.
But the region can do more than one grape variety. Pinot Noir from Marlborough shows an independent character – fresher and more structured rather than opulent, with a fine spice that fits well with the region's cool location. Chardonnay also finds its place here and convinces with elegance instead of heaviness.
