Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc Wairau Valley

Marlborough is the home of modern Sauvignon Blanc – and Villa Maria's Wairau Valley variant shows why this region has shaped the style worldwide: precise, aromatic, unmistakably fresh.

Villa Maria was founded in Auckland in 1961 by George Fistonich and is now one of New Zealand's most renowned wineries. Wines from the Wairau Valley in the heart of Marlborough benefit from long sunny days, cool nights, and well-drained gravel soils – conditions that promote intense aromatics and lively acidity in the Sauvignon Blanc.

In the glass, it displays a pale straw yellow color. The nose offers passion fruit, gooseberry, and freshly cut grass, along with a hint of grapefruit peel. On the palate, crisp acidity, medium body, and a juicy finish with a spicy herbal note. Uncomplicated yet focused – ready to drink now.

The Winery

Villa Maria

The winery Villa Maria was founded in 1961 by George Fistonich and is located in New Zealand. It has two locations, in Auckland and Marlborough, where cellar master Alastair Maling carries out his work.

In the four regions of Auckland, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, and Marlborough lie the vineyards of Villa Maria. For the production of the wines, grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, or Pinot Noir are grown here.
