hole in the water Pinot Noir
A Pinot Noir that shows why Marlborough has long been more than just Sauvignon Blanc: cool, precise, with real depth.
Konrad Wines was founded just over ten years ago by the Hengstler family. Winemaker Duncan Shouler vinifies the grapes from Marlborough, where glacial clay-limestone soils and reflective boulders in the valley create an unusual combination: intense sun-ripening during the day, cold Pacific air at night. This interplay is the essence of the cool-climate style.
In the glass, the Hole in the Water displays cherry, cranberry, and plum, interwoven with spicy, floral notes and a hint of clove and vanilla. On the palate, concentrated fruit, a vibrant texture, and a fresh, clean finish—typical of Pinot Noir from cooler climates.
Best served at 14–16 °C . Pairs well with duck breast with cherry sauce, grilled salmon, or a mature goat cheese.
