Sommeracher Katzenkopf Silvaner dry

A Silvaner that shows what Franconia can do: clear, dry, with real substance from the shell limestone.

The Winzer Sommerach are one of the most renowned cooperatives in Franconia — founded in 1901, today with around 230 member wineries in the Volkach Mainschleife area. The Sommeracher Katzenkopf is the most famous vineyard of the village: a southwest-facing slope on Upper Muschelkalk (shell limestone), whose skeleton-rich limestone weathering soils give the Silvaner its typical straightforwardness and depth.

In the glass, the wine shows a light yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose, aromas of white peach, herbs, and a distinct mineral undertone — the shell limestone terroir is palpable. On the palate, full-bodied but without heaviness, with fresh acidity and a long-lasting, slightly spicy finish.
