Sommeracher Katzenkopf Silvaner dry

A Silvaner that shows what Franconia can do: clear, dry, with real substance from the Muschelkalk limestone.

The Sommerach winegrowers' cooperative is one of Franconia's most renowned winegrowers — founded in 1901, today with around 230 member wineries in the Volkach Main loop region. The Sommerach Katzenkopf vineyard is one of the classified Erste Lage (Premier Cru) vineyards of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) in the Franconia region: shell limestone soils that give the Silvaner its typical linearity and depth.

In the glass, the wine displays a pale yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose offers aromas of white peach, herbs, and a distinct mineral undertone—the limestone terroir is evident. On the palate, it is full-bodied but not heavy, with fresh acidity and a long, slightly spicy finish.

Winzer Sommerach

Winzer Sommerach is the oldest winegrowers' cooperative in Franconia – founded in 1901 by 35 winegrowing families who joined forces to survive during a time of phylloxera infestation and plummeting prices. Today, 90 families carry on this tradition, cultivating around 200 hectares on the Main River loop and tending the Sommeracher Katzenkopf vineyard, one of the most important sites in the region. Their motto, "High standards make the difference," is not just a slogan: every bottle can be traced back to a specific winegrower and their vineyard – transparency and community as a lived principle for over 120 years.
