Matthias Gaul Sauvignon Blanc

Matthias Gaul Sauvignon Blanc
The Matthias Gaul Sauvignon Blanc is a lively white wine from the Southern Palatinate – for all those who appreciate clear fruit, fresh structure and uncomplicated wine enjoyment.
In the glass, it displays an invigorating, exotic fruitiness with the typical vibrancy of the grape variety. On the palate, it surprises with its gentle approachability and pleasant freshness – not an awkward, brooding wine, but one you simply want to enjoy. Matthias Gaul has consistently focused on international grape varieties in the Palatinate region and, through precise harvesting decisions and controlled fermentation, has transformed Sauvignon Blanc into a compelling wine from the Southern Palatinate: fruit-forward, structured, and eminently drinkable.
Serve it well chilled at around 8°C – this is when its exotic fruit flavors are most pronounced. It goes perfectly with:
- Asian dishes with a mild spiciness
- Salads with goat cheese or fresh herbs
- Grilled vegetables and light summer dishes
- As a refreshing aperitif or sundowner
A wine without detours – direct, honest and with genuine drinking pleasure.

Matthias Gaul runs his winery in Grünstadt-Asselheim as the fourth generation of a winemaking family that laid the foundation in 1956 with their first bottled wine. At the northernmost tip of the German Wine Route, where winds from the Eis Valley create a cool microclimate, he cultivates 35 hectares primarily of Burgundy varieties – some in close plantings at an altitude of 300 meters, on pure limestone bedrock. VINUM magazine named him "King of Pinot" in 2017, and he has won the German Red Wine Award twice. Anyone who drinks his Pinot Gris or Pinot Noir will understand why these are not empty accolades.
