Matthias Gaul blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot into a harmonious composition with southern depth and Palatinate soil. Controlled yields and careful hand-harvesting ensure optimal ripeness and concentration. The result: a dark, spicy cuvée with ripe fruit, soft tannins, and a pleasing finish.
It's best served at 16–18 °C — that's when it develops its full complexity. It pairs wonderfully with:

For whom is this wine a good buy?
For everyone who likes Bordeaux grape varieties but does not yet know the Palatinate as a red wine region. The cuvée is accessible enough for an introduction but has enough character for evenings where the wine is the focus.
How do I store the wine?
Cool, dark, and lying down — ideally at 12–14 °C, protected from light and strong temperature fluctuations. An opened bottle keeps for another two to three days sealed in the refrigerator.
The Winery
Matthias Gaul runs his winery in Grünstadt-Asselheim as the fourth generation of a winemaking family that laid the foundation in 1956 with its first bottled wine.
At the northernmost tip of the German Wine Route, where winds from the Eistal valley provide a cool microclimate, he grows mainly Pinot varieties on 35 hectares – partly in high-density planting at an altitude of 300 meters, on pure limestone rock.
VINUM named him "King of Pinot" in 2017, and he won the German Red Wine Prize twice. Anyone who drinks his Pinot Gris or Pinot Noir tastes why this is no empty award.
