In the glass, it displays a deep red color, already hinting at its substance. The bouquet is carried by red and black berries – cherry, blackberry, a touch of plum – complemented by delicate herbal notes and a subtle oak influence from aging in French oak barrels . On the palate, it impresses with a full body and an invigorating minerality that brings both freshness and depth to the glass.

The Matthias Gaul Pinot Noir pairs perfectly with:

Matthias Gaul runs his winery in Grünstadt-Asselheim as the fourth generation of a winemaking family that laid the foundation in 1956 with their first bottled wine. At the northernmost tip of the German Wine Route, where winds from the Eis Valley create a cool microclimate, he cultivates 35 hectares primarily of Burgundy varieties – some in close plantings at an altitude of 300 meters, on pure limestone bedrock. VINUM magazine named him "King of Pinot" in 2017, and he has won the German Red Wine Award twice. Anyone who drinks his Pinot Gris or Pinot Noir will understand why these are not empty accolades.
