Cuvée Lara

Cuvée Lara
The Cuvée Lara is the centerpiece of the Karl Pfaffmann winery in Walsheim in the Palatinate region – lovingly dedicated to Markus Pfaffmann's eldest daughter. This prestige cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot comes exclusively from old, low-yielding vines on the Walsheim Silberberg vineyard , where late ripening and intense sunshine well into late autumn give the wine its exceptional depth and complexity.
In the glass, it displays a rich, deep ruby red color . The nose is multifaceted and expressive, with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, mulberry, and cassis , complemented by elegant notes of mocha, dark chocolate, thyme, and a hint of eucalyptus and mint. On the palate, it is full-bodied, substantial, and complex, with ripe, velvety tannins and a long, peppery, dark-fruited finish full of character and warmth.
Matured for 24 months in barriques during a temperature-controlled, long fermentation, this wine has an alcohol content of 14.5% ABV and is best served at an ideal temperature of 16–18°C . An ideal accompaniment to game, aged cheeses, roast beef, and hearty braised dishes – robust, sun-drenched, and unmistakably Palatinate.

Walsheim, Southern Palatinate – Latitude 49°14'01", Longitude 8°07'20". Behind these coordinates lies a small village that hardly anyone knows at first glance, and that is exactly what makes it interesting. Here, between the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine plain, the Karl Pfaffmann winery grows its grapes – in a corner of the Palatinate blessed with plenty of sun, a mild climate, and deep soils.
The Southern Palatinate is one of the warmest wine-growing regions in Germany. You can tell by the wines: they have body, ripeness, and a directness that requires no long explanations. Karl Pfaffmann utilizes this potential and keeps returning to one fundamental idea – wine that tells the story of its origin.
