A Pinot Gris from the Palatinate that stands in the glass with a golden color and is vinified dry. The Selection from the Walsheimer Silberberg vineyard shows what the Pfaffmann winery gets out of this grape variety: density, fruit, and a mineral line.
Karl Pfaffmann founded the winery, and today his son Markus continues to run it. His white wines are vinified cool and mostly dry, mineral and fresh. This Pinot Gris matures in steel tanks, which keeps the fruit clear and direct.
The nose reveals pineapple, pear, and lime, while fine apple aromas and a noticeable minerality are added on the palate. The wine appears concentrated and ends with good length.
Recommendation: Serve it at 8 to 10 °C. It goes well with fried zander, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, poultry in cream sauce, or a medium-aged Gouda.

How does the Walsheimer Silberberg Pinot Gris taste?
Dry, with aromas of pineapple, pear, and lime. On the palate, it shows fine apple fruit, a mineral freshness, and good length — concentrated, but not heavy.
What does Pinot Gris pair best with?
It is versatile: with roasted veal, light poultry, or fish, as well as with gratin, fondue, or hearty soups. The mineral freshness also stands up to spicier dishes.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Ideally between 8 and 12 °C. Too cold and the fruit disappears, too warm and it loses its freshness — take it out of the fridge shortly before serving.
Is the wine really dry?
Yes, it is dry. The fruit aromas — pineapple, pear — seem juicy but come without residual sugar. If you like dry white wines with emphasis, this is the right choice.
How should I store the bottle?
Cool, dark, and lying down — ideally between 10 and 14 °C, protected from light and strong temperature fluctuations. Keep an opened bottle sealed in the fridge and drink within two to three days.
The Winery
Walsheim, Southern Palatinate – Latitude 49°14'01", Longitude 8°07'20". Here, between the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine plain, the Karl Pfaffmann winery grows its grapes – in a corner of the Palatinate blessed with plenty of sun, a mild climate, and deep soils.
The Southern Palatinate is one of the warmest wine-growing regions in Germany. You can tell by the wines: they have body, ripeness, and a directness that requires no long explanations. Karl Pfaffmann utilizes this potential and keeps returning to one fundamental idea – wine that tells the story of its origin.
