Charlotte Pinot Noir Grand Reserve

Charlotte Pinot Noir Grand Reserve
Charlotte Pinot Noir Grand Réserve is a high-quality red wine from the Karl Pfaffmann winery in the Palatinate region, dedicated to the family's middle daughter. The wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the Walsheimer Silberberg vineyard in the Rottal valley, where strict yield reduction and extensive manual labor result in extremely concentrated grapes.
In the glass, it displays a deep, dark ruby red with a rich shimmer. The nose is intense and concentrated, with notes of dark cherry, plum, blackcurrant, light herbal and earthy notes, as well as fine, toasty accents from the barrique aging. On the palate, Charlotte Grand Réserve is substantial, silky yet clear, with well-integrated, fine tannins, structuring acidity, and a long, spicy finish full of ripe fruit and subtle oak spice.
The wine is vinified after hand-harvesting with a long maceration and matures for up to 16 months in small oak barrels, some with a proportion of new wood, resulting in an elegantly robust, yet not heavy style. It is ideally served at 15–17 °C with grilled beef, lamb, game dishes, or aged cheeses. At approximately 13.5% ABV, Charlotte Pinot Noir Grand Réserve is also suitable for extended aging, allowing the aromas to further balance and the wine to reach new heights of perfection.

Walsheim, Southern Palatinate – Latitude 49°14'01", Longitude 8°07'20". Behind these coordinates lies a small village that hardly anyone knows at first glance, and that is exactly what makes it interesting. Here, between the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine plain, the Karl Pfaffmann winery grows its grapes – in a corner of the Palatinate blessed with plenty of sun, a mild climate, and deep soils.
The Southern Palatinate is one of the warmest wine-growing regions in Germany. You can tell by the wines: they have body, ripeness, and a directness that requires no long explanations. Karl Pfaffmann utilizes this potential and keeps returning to one fundamental idea – wine that tells the story of its origin.
