Markus Pfaffmann Riesling semi-dry
Founded by father Karl Pfaffmann, the skill and expertise at the Markus Pfaffmann winery are now in the hands of his son, Markus. White wine from Markus Pfaffmann is cool, usually vinified dry, minerally fresh, and of the very best quality.
The single vineyard site Herrenberg is located south of Walsheim in the district of Nussdorf. The soils there consist predominantly of sandy loess loam with limestone components in the deeper layers.
The grapes harvested there are gently pressed after only a short period of maceration and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 17° C. This allows the fruit of the grape to unfold optimally in the wine and present itself in a completely carefree manner. The special feature in the otherwise dry Riesling range is the beautiful, dynamic interplay between freshness and a little more fruit sweetness. Become a self-confessed semi-dry fan, and perhaps together we can succeed in converting more than a few pure "dry drinkers".
The green-yellow color already heralds the aromas of star fruit, kiwi, white peach, and light minerality. On the palate, it is impressively clear, fresh, and has a beautiful length.
"Are you undecided? Then reach for any wine from Markus Pfaffmann - you will not regret it. What sounds far-fetched is a fact: you will look in vain for failures in this 60-hectare estate, which is by no means small."

The Winery
Walsheim, Southern Palatinate – Latitude 49°14'01", Longitude 8°07'20". Behind these coordinates lies a small village that hardly anyone knows at first glance, and that is exactly what makes it interesting. Here, between the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine plain, the Karl Pfaffmann winery grows its grapes – in a corner of the Palatinate blessed with plenty of sun, a mild climate, and deep soils.
The Southern Palatinate is one of the warmest wine-growing regions in Germany. You can tell by the wines: they have body, ripeness, and a directness that requires no long explanations. Karl Pfaffmann utilizes this potential and keeps returning to one fundamental idea – wine that tells the story of its origin.
