We were aware that there are still good wines for little money in Apulia. However, it was still a surprise that we would come across a drop that exhibits such a sensational price/quality ratio.
Only the very best Primitivo grapes go into this fabulous Riserva, which reminds one of ripe fruits and berries with its powerful and multi-layered bouquet. Subtle wood notes give the wine a fine spiciness and make it soft and full in taste with a depth that seems to never end. A masterfully crafted poem at a sensational price!
Intense ruby red color;
On the nose, complex aromas of fruits, plums, cherry jam with nuances of tobacco and light spice; full body.
On the palate, round and rich in fine tannins. Aromas of cocoa, coffee, and vanilla in the foreground.
Goes very well with lamb with its strong, typical characteristic taste - whether grilled, braised, or roasted. Regional, slightly sweet-spicy dishes from Apulia are also wonderfully accompanied by this Primitivo. It also cuts a fine figure with apricots or raisins as an oriental element, as the wine has few bitter tannins.

Round and full in the body, with ripe aromas of plum and cherry jam, plus cocoa, coffee, and vanilla in the background. The tannins are fine, the finish long and soft.
Is the wine dry?
Yes, it is a dry red wine with 14.5% vol alcohol.
What does this Primitivo pair best with?
Ideal with lamb, whether grilled, braised, or roasted. Also with Apulian salsiccia, beef, Pecorino, and Caciocavallo, or with apricots and raisins as a sweetish-oriental element.
At what temperature should I serve the wine?
Best at 16-18°C, i.e., slightly below room temperature. This brings out the fruit and fine tannins most clearly.
Does the wine need to be decanted before drinking?
It is not strictly necessary, but a brief decanting of 20-30 minutes additionally opens up the bouquet of plum, tobacco, and spice.
How long does the bottle last after opening?
Well-sealed and stored cool, the opened wine lasts 2-3 days, although fruit and tannin diminish somewhat over time.
The Winery
Botter is an Italian winery founded in 1928 by Carlo Botter. Today, it is managed by the third generation, located approximately 30 km northeast of Venice on the Piave River. In total, the winery offers more than 160 hectares of vineyards, which are distributed across two locations.
These are Divici and La Di Motta, the former being the newer location. Divici has a state-of-the-art cellar with a storage capacity of approx. 500,000 liters. The grape varieties cultivated by the winery include Primitivo, Nero d'Avola, Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera, or Sangiovese.
