In the sun-drenched south of Italy, the altitude of the vineyards plays a crucial role. In high-altitude vineyards, the growing season for the grapes is significantly longer thanks to the moderate temperatures compared to the heat of the valley. This results in the grapes reaching a very high level of physiological ripeness and developing an exceptionally rich and complex aroma. Our two new premium wines, Terre di Montelusa Altopiano, come from such high altitudes – the Primitivo from Apulia and the Nero d'Avola from Sicily. The grapes for these expressive red wines are harvested by hand, gently vinified, and aged for almost a year in small oak barrels. The result is full-bodied, dense, and velvety wines in which ripe fruit and spicy oak notes combine to create a seductively nuanced interplay of aromas.
