In the sun-drenched south of Italy, the altitude of the vineyard location plays a decisive role. In high-altitude vineyards, the vegetation period of the grapes is significantly longer than in the heat of the valley, thanks to moderate temperatures. As a result, the grapes reach a very high physiological maturity and develop an exceptionally rich and multi-layered aroma. Our two new premium wines, Terre di Montelusa Altopiano, come from such high altitudes – the Primitivo from Apulia, the Nero d’Avola from Sicily. The grapes for these expressive red wines are hand-picked, gently vinified, and aged for almost a year in small oak barrels. The result is full-bodied, dense, and velvety wines in which ripe fruit combines with spicy wood notes to create a seductively nuanced play of aromas. A delight from the special high altitudes of the Italian south!
