Zolla Primitivo di Manduria

The Zolla Primitivo di Manduria, which regularly wins top awards, is an Italian red wine from Apulia. More precisely, from the heart of Salento, in Manduria. This region is renowned for producing the finest wines from the Primitivo grape. The oenologists Filippo Baccalaro and Teo d'Apolito of Vigneti del Salento are responsible for this Primitivo. They are among the top winemakers in Salento. With passionate dedication and meticulous attention to detail, they have created the perfect conditions for producing wines of the highest caliber. The result is a terroir-driven wine, perfectly suited for the international market, with body and richness. This Primitivo, made from the grape of the same name, presents itself in a ruby-red color with violet hues. The complex, slightly spicy bouquet is intense and dominated by a fruity aroma with notes of small red fruits (cherries and blackberries). Due to the short barrel aging, subtle roasted notes of caramel and toasted bread waft to the nose, followed by delicate hints of black tea. On the palate, this is a well-balanced and smooth wine, aromatically caressed by velvety tannins and a delicious interplay of fruit. The long, elegant finish is crowned with delicate cocoa nuances. A wine with a truly special character. Simply different

A great wine for the price. Dark red, very much fruit bread without being sweet. I would say it is more of a dry wine that doesn't know it's dry. Simply something completely different.

Quaffable delicious red wine!

Among the Primitivos, this one wins the price-performance ratio, whereby the performance, i.e. the taste, comes first. Absolutely recommendable wine with the typical berry/fruity notes. Quaffable!

Waiting for next year

The Zolla Primitivo has declined compared to previous years. The wine lacks a bit of character. Price/performance is therefore no longer what it used to be.
Vinoscout customerTranslated from German

Very good fruity wine

The Primitivo wines are generally very good for my taste, but the Zolla is the crowning glory.

Very fruity and round wine

We had the wine with us on our ski vacation and could really enjoy it in the evening by the fireplace. It is deliciously fruity, we drank it every evening.

Simply a little dream under 10€?

Tastes differ! But I have already drunk really many red wines in different price ranges and have now remained loyal to the Zolla for a good 2 years. For me, a very delicious tasting wine. ??

The Winery

Vigneti del Salento

Vigneti del Salento is an Italian winery located in the Apulia region. The prevailing climate facilitates the development of the grapes through temperature fluctuations between day and night and the proximity to the sea.

In addition, the grapes partially dry out due to the intense heat, which increases their sugar content. All grapes are harvested by hand and processed into wines under the supervision of the employed winemakers. Grape varieties such as Negroamaro, Montepulciano, Primitivo, and Merlot are grown at Vigneti del Salento.
