Douro DOC Representative

Der Vertente is Niepoort's entry into the dry Douro world — accessible, but with the house's characteristic touch.

Niepoort from Vila Nova de Gaia is one of the most influential names in the Douro Valley. The family winery has been known for its Ports for generations, but has also set standards for still wines. The Vertente combines classic Douro grape varieties—typically Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz—into a wine that showcases the region's strengths without being heavy.

In the glass, it displays a medium ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of dark berries, violets, and a mineral undertone inherited from the slate and granite soils of the Douro. On the palate, soft, ripe tannins, lively acidity, and flavors of blackberry and cassis unfold. The finish is balanced and characterized by a subtle spiciness.
