ULISSE Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP - Magnum 1.5L

A Montepulciano d'Abruzzo in a magnum bottle — this is no coincidence, but a statement: this wine wants space, company and a long evening.

Behind the Tenuta Ulisse winery are brothers Antonio and Luigi Ulisse, who are continuing a family legacy that their grandfather founded in the Abruzzo region at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, they manage 55 hectares of vineyards around Crecchio, Lanciano and Ortona — a mosaic of coastal and inland terroirs that offers optimal conditions for the region's indigenous grape varieties. The grapes are harvested by hand in small 10 kg containers and transported chilled in order to bring the fruit to the cellar undamaged.

In the glass, the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo shows aromas of black cherry and red berries, underpinned by caramel and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is juicy and soft, with well-integrated acidity and a structure that does justice to the bottle size — not a heavy block, but a balanced red wine with depth.

Served at 16–18 °C, it goes well with leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled chorizo or a strong Pecorino from the region. The 1.5-litre bottle makes it the right choice for a table with several guests.
