AMARANTA Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP

AMARANTA Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP
The Amaranta Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP showcases the potential of indigenous grape varieties from Central Italy. A powerful, dry red wine from Tenuta Ulisse, distinguished by its density and striking aroma profile.
The Ulisse brothers cultivate 55 hectares of vineyards around Crecchio and Ortona – a legacy from their grandfather. They are meticulous during the harvest: selective hand-picking in 10-kilo crates and immediate cooling with dry ice preserve the freshness of the grapes. The winemaking process, which falls under the category of "other" in wine law , utilizes this targeted cold treatment before fermentation to break down the cell structure of the berries and ensure maximum extraction of aromas.
In the glass, the wine opens with a rich aroma of dark red fruits, complemented by balsamic notes of pine forest, cocoa, and a distinct hint of coconut. On the palate, it displays a slightly sweet opening, which is then embraced by a full, elegant body. The finish is long, carried by dark fruit and subtle spice.
This Abruzzo red wine is best enjoyed at 16 to 18 °C . It pairs well with hearty meat dishes such as braised leg of lamb, wild boar ragout, or an intensely aged Pecorino cheese.
