The grapes for the Philipp Kuhn Saumagen Riesling trocken Grosses Gewächs thrive on exceptional soil, characterized by massive limestone bedrock in the subsoil and red Terra Fusca in the topsoil. The sun on the southeast-facing slopes of the Palatinate Forest imparts exceptional ripeness to the grapes. The result is a highly mineral, powerful Riesling that displays a broad spectrum of fruit aromas. The typical herbal notes of Saumagen Rieslings emerge alongside aromas of apricot, melon, and mango. A typical, delicately fruity Palatinate Riesling with fine acidity, made from very late-harvested grapes.
