Philipp Kuhn Mano Negra dry red wine cuvée

Philipp Kuhn Mano Negra dry red wine cuvée
The name comes directly from the winery: after processing Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon, the winemaker's hands remain deeply stained — hence Mano Negra, the black hand. What follows in the barrels takes time.
Philipp Kuhn is one of the reliable addresses in the Palatinate. His winery in Laumersheim works with single-vineyard wines and classic aging methods — the Mano Negra is exemplary for his approach to more powerful red wines: 17 months of barrique aging for both grape varieties before the cuvée is assembled.
In the glass, it shows deep ruby red. On the nose, sour cherry and cassis, underneath dried plum and a hint of dark chocolate from the wood aging. On the palate, the Cabernet Sauvignon contributes structure and tannin, the Blaufränkisch provides freshness and a subtle peppery spice in the finish. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with pleasant warmth.
- Food pairing: Lamb shank with herbs, roast beef, mature hard cheese
