Philipp Kuhn Steinacker Riesling Erste Lage dry
The Steinacker vineyard in Kallstadt is one of the most prestigious Riesling sites in the Palatinate – classified as a VDP.Erste Lage (Premier Cru), characterized by its limestone bedrock. This soil gives the wine its distinctive tension: a taut, cool minerality that permeates every sip.
Philipp Kuhn manages the winery in the Palatinate with a clear focus on site-specific vines and precision in the cellar. Late harvesting ensures physiological ripeness without heaviness – the result is a Riesling with depth and, at the same time, a refined character. The winery is certified according to the guidelines of Fair'n Green , a German sustainability association for viticulture.
On the nose, the Steinacker displays aromas of freshly grated apple, lime zest, and white peach, along with a mineral undertone reminiscent of chalk and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is lean and direct: clear, invigorating acidity without harshness, no perceptible residual sugar, and a fine-grained texture. The finish is long, with a subtle stone fruit echo and lingering minerality.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Drinking window until 2030. Pairs well with asparagus with hollandaise sauce, grilled sea bass, pike-perch in white wine sauce, or light poultry with lemon jus. Also a reliable choice to accompany goat cheese or a mature Comté.
