Philipp Kuhn Steinacker Riesling Erste Lage dry

The Steinacker in Kallstadt is one of the most renowned Riesling sites in the Palatinate – classified as VDP.Erste Lage, characterized by limestone rock as the subsoil. This soil gives the wine its characteristic tension: a taut, cool minerality that runs through every sip.

Philipp Kuhn manages the winery in the Palatinate with a clear focus on site loyalty and precision in the cellar. The late harvest ensures physiological ripeness without heaviness – the result is a Riesling with depth and at the same time a fine line. The winery is certified according to the guidelines of Fair'n Green, a German sustainability association for viticulture.

On the nose, the Steinacker shows aromas of freshly grated apple, lime zest, and white peach, plus a mineral undertone reminiscent of chalk and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is lean and directly built: clear, invigorating acidity without sharpness, no noticeable residual sugar, fine-grained texture. The finish is long, with a light stone fruit echo and persistent minerality.

Drinking temperature: 10–12 °C. 2030. Pairs with asparagus with hollandaise sauce, grilled sea bass, zander in white wine sauce, or light poultry with lemon jus. Also a safe choice as an accompaniment to goat cheese or a mature Comté.
