Philipp Kuhn Cabernet Sauvignon Laumersheimer Reserve dry

Philipp Kuhn Cabernet Sauvignon Laumersheimer Reserve dry
Cabernet Sauvignon from the Palatinate that shows what this grape variety can achieve in German hands – structured, dark-fruited, with real aging potential.
Philipp Kuhn manages his sites around Laumersheim in the northern Palatinate with high precision. The Reserve stands for the winery's most ambitious maturation: 20 months of aging in small barrels made of French Allier oak – a wood that works finer and spicier than classic Limousin oak and gives the wine structure without overpowering it.
In the glass, deep ruby red. On the nose, blackberry, black currant, and dried plum, underpinned by dark chocolate and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, powerful but ripe tannins that leave room for acidity – no weight without pull. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with a charcoal note in the finish.
Drinking temperature: 17–18 °C. With good storage, beyond that. Decanting for at least 30 minutes recommended.
- Beef fillet with red wine sauce
- Leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic
- Mature cheddar or Manchego
