Mercurey Premier Cru le Clos l'Evèque

Mercurey is one of the quiet giants of the Côte Chalonnaise – and this Premier Cru from Clos l'Evêque shows why: a Pinot Noir with Burgundian precision, combining elegance and substance.

Domaine Chanson is one of the oldest wineries in the Côte de Beaune, founded in Beaune in 1750. The estate cultivates vineyards in several Burgundy appellations – from village wines to Grand Cru. Clos l'Evêque is a classic Premier Cru vineyard in Mercurey, situated on clay-limestone soil that gives the Pinot Noir structure and depth.

In the glass, the wine displays a clear ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of sour cherry, red plum, and a hint of peony, underpinned by licorice and subtle black pepper. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins and lively acidity – the finish is long with a spicy fruit note.

Serving suggestion: Serving temperature 16–17 °C. Drinking window until approx. 2030. Pairs well with Coq au Vin, duck breast with cherries or mature Époisses.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Burgundy. It is among the few estates that have survived since the 18th century. Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has undertaken extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the finest in Burgundy. Nestled amidst picturesque hills, the 45 hectares of vineyards flourish in the most prestigious appellations, including Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis. Here, tradition and modernity blend seamlessly, creating a unique symbiosis that imparts a distinctive character to each wine. The historic Bastion, a 15th-century wine cellar, is the heart of the estate. Within these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under ideal conditions. Each bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
