Beaune Bastion Rouge Premier Cru

The Beaune Bastion Rouge Premier Cru is the Burgundian ensemble wine of Domaine Chanson – one of Beaune's oldest wineries, founded in 1750 and now part of the Bollinger Group. The name refers not to a single vineyard site, but to the historic bastion cellars of the city of Beaune, where the wines mature – a unique 15th-century vaulted cellar that gives the cuvée its name and its soul.

This wine is a carefully composed blend of wines from Beaune's most renowned Premier Cru parcels: Teurons, Bressandes, Clos du Roi, Clos des Marconnets, Champimonts, Clos des Mouches, and the exclusive monopole Clos des Fèves. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it is aged for 17 months in classic Burgundian 228-liter barrels – with care and without over-processing.

In the glass, a bright, deep ruby red. The nose opens with aromas of cooked red fruits, strawberry liqueur, raspberry, and cherry, underpinned by hints of vanilla, spices, and fine earth. On the palate, complex and generous, with a firm texture, well-integrated tannins, and a long, spicy finish.

Served at 16–18 °C with an alcohol content of 14.0–14.5% ABV, with aging potential until 2041. A natural accompaniment to Coq au Vin, game birds, aged Comté cheese, and classic dishes of Bourguignon cuisine – precise, complex, and unmistakably from Beaune.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Burgundy. It is among the few estates that have survived since the 18th century. Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has undertaken extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the finest in Burgundy. Nestled amidst picturesque hills, the 45 hectares of vineyards flourish in the most prestigious appellations, including Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis. Here, tradition and modernity blend seamlessly, creating a unique symbiosis that imparts a distinctive character to each wine. The historic Bastion, a 15th-century wine cellar, is the heart of the estate. Within these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under ideal conditions. Each bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
