Domaine Chanson Montagny Blanc Premier Cru

Montagny is the southernmost appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise – and one of the few Burgundy wines where almost all vineyards hold Premier Cru status. Domaine Chanson, rooted in Beaune since 1750, demonstrates here what Chardonnay is capable of beyond the big names of the Côte de Beaune.

In the glass, the wine shines a bright golden color. The nose reveals ripe pear, white peach, and a hint of acacia, underpinned by a fine limestone minerality typical of Montagny's soils. On the palate, it is firm and fresh, with well-integrated acidity and a slightly creamy mid-palate – likely due to brief contact with oak, without the oak dominating. The finish is dry, longer than one would expect at this price point, with a salty mineral note.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Burgundy. It is among the few estates that have survived since the 18th century. Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has undertaken extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the finest in Burgundy. Nestled amidst picturesque hills, the 45 hectares of vineyards flourish in the most prestigious appellations, including Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis. Here, tradition and modernity blend seamlessly, creating a unique symbiosis that imparts a distinctive character to each wine. The historic Bastion, a 15th-century wine cellar, is the heart of the estate. Within these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under ideal conditions. Each bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
