Domaine Chanson Montagny Blanc Premier Cru

Montagny is the southernmost appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise – and one of the few Burgundy wines in which almost all sites carry Premier Cru status. Domaine Chanson, rooted in Beaune since 1750, shows here what Chardonnay can do away from the big Côte de Beaune names.

In the glass, the wine glows light golden. On the nose, ripe pear, white peach, and a hint of acacia appear, underlaid by a fine limestone minerality that is typical of the soils of Montagny. On the palate, it runs taut and fresh, with well-integrated acidity and a slightly creamy middle section – probably short contact with wood, without the oak dominating. The finish is dry, longer than one would expect at this price point, with a salty mineral tone.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most renowned wineries in the Burgundy region. It is one of the few wineries that has remained in existence since the 18th century.

Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has carried out extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the best in Burgundy. Amidst the picturesque hills stretch the 45 hectares of vineyards, which thrive in the most prestigious sites such as Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis.

Here, tradition and modernity merge into a unique symbiosis that gives every wine a special touch. The historic bastion, a wine cellar from the 15th century, is the heart of the winery.

In these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under perfect conditions. Every bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
