Pommard

Pommard stands for powerful, structured Pinot Noir in the Côte de Beaune – and Domaine Chanson delivers a classic expression of this appellation with this village wine.

Chanson is one of the oldest négociant houses in Beaune, founded in 1750, and is now owned by the Bollinger Champagne group. The domaine manages around 45 hectares in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, including several Premier Cru sites. The Pommard comes from the clay-rich limestone soils below the village – a soil structure that gives the Pinot Noir here its typical density and tannin structure.

In the glass, deep ruby red. On the nose, black cherry and blackberry, underscored by licorice, clove, and a hint of earth. On the palate, medium to full body, firm but ripe tannins, lively acidity. The finish is long and spicy with an aftertaste of red fruits and elderberry.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Pairs with leg of lamb with herbs, game ragout, or mature Époisses.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Burgundy. It is among the few estates that have survived since the 18th century. Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has undertaken extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the finest in Burgundy. Nestled amidst picturesque hills, the 45 hectares of vineyards flourish in the most prestigious appellations, including Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis. Here, tradition and modernity blend seamlessly, creating a unique symbiosis that imparts a distinctive character to each wine. The historic Bastion, a 15th-century wine cellar, is the heart of the estate. Within these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under ideal conditions. Each bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
