Corton Vergènnes Grand Cru

A Grand Cru from the Côte de Beaune that combines history and minerality in one glass: Corton Vergènnes comes from one of the smallest parcels of the Corton hill, divided between Domaine Chanson and the Hospices de Beaune.

Domaine Chanson is one of the oldest négociant houses in Burgundy and has been cultivating its vineyards in Beaune since the 18th century. The vineyard bears the name of Charles Gravier, Count of Vergennes—a diplomat from Dijon who, as Foreign Minister to Louis XVI, signed the Treaty of Alliance with the USA, making France the first country to officially recognize the United States. Small plot, big history.

In the glass, the wine shines a rich gold. The nose reveals citrus peel, green almond, and a delicate floral note, underpinned by a clear minerality. On the palate, it impresses with a firm, deep texture and precise acidity – taut yet well-integrated. The finish is long, with a saline aftertaste that clearly reveals its Corton limestone origin.

Serving temperature: 12–13 °C. Drinking window: now until 2032+.
Pairs well with turbot with beurre blanc, lobster, sweetbreads or mature Comté cheese.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Burgundy. It is among the few estates that have survived since the 18th century. Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has undertaken extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the finest in Burgundy. Nestled amidst picturesque hills, the 45 hectares of vineyards flourish in the most prestigious appellations, including Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis. Here, tradition and modernity blend seamlessly, creating a unique symbiosis that imparts a distinctive character to each wine. The historic Bastion, a 15th-century wine cellar, is the heart of the estate. Within these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under ideal conditions. Each bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
