Kalkofen G.C. Riesling dry QW Palatinate 0.75L
The Kalkofen is one of the great single vineyards of the Pfalz — and Bürklin-Wolf's interpretation shows what Riesling can achieve on limestone soil: depth, tension, and a creaminess rarely found with this level of clarity.
Weingut Dr. Bürklin-Wolf in Wachenheim is one of the oldest and most significant addresses in the Pfalz. Biodynamically farmed and Demeter-certified since 2005, the family winery manages vineyards in Wachenheim, Forst, Deidesheim, and Ruppertsberg. The Kalkofen in Deidesheim — classified as a Grosses Gewächs — lies on the eponymous limestone rock, which gives the Riesling its characteristic minerality and structure.
In the glass, the wine shows ripe peach and quince fruit, underpinned by a fine spice reminiscent of white pepper and herbs. The acidity is precise and well-integrated, the body full-bodied without being heavy. The finish is long, mineral, and salty — a clear sign of the presence of limestone soil.
Ideal with veal medallions with a herb crust, grilled sea bass, or a mature Comté. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
