Gaisböhl Riesl. dry GC Monopol QW Pfalz 1.5L

The Gaisböhl is the flagship of Dr. Bürklin-Wolf — a monopoly site in the heart of the Pfalz that belongs exclusively to this winery and produces Riesling on calcareous loam over variegated sandstone. You can feel what that means in the glass: a Großes Gewächs with a clear language of origin that combines the warmth of the Pfalz with a minerality one would sooner expect in the steep slopes of the Mosel.

Dr. Bürklin-Wolf is one of the oldest and most significant wineries in the Pfalz, family-owned for generations and biodynamically farmed (Demeter-certified) since 2005. Work in the vineyard follows the lunar phases, and synthetic agents are completely avoided — the result is living soils that give the Riesling depth.

In the glass, the Gaisböhl Riesling shows ripe yellow pear, citrus zest, and a distinct hint of herbs, underpinned by a fine chalky minerality. The acidity is precise and well-integrated, the body dense, the finish long and salty. The magnum bottle (1.5 l) matures more slowly than the standard bottle — an advantage for those who want to give the wine time.

Served at 10–12 °C, it pairs with turbot with brown butter, sweetbreads, or an aged mountain cheese from the Allgäu.
