Torrevento is one of the most reliable wineries in Apulia. The estate works with indigenous grape varieties – above all Primitivo, which reaches its peak on the sun-drenched plateaus of the Murgia and in Salento. The Ghenos carries the DOC Primitivo di Manduria designation, guaranteeing its origin in this core region south of Taranto.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red with purple reflections. The nose offers aromas of Amarena cherry and candied orange peel, along with rose, leather, coffee, and vanilla. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, with dense, ripe tannins – classic for this grape variety. The finish is reminiscent of dark chocolate and lingers pleasantly.

Is the wine dry?
Yes, classically vinified dry. It is aged in steel tanks, without barrique influence – the fruit of the Primitivo grape is in the foreground.
What does the Ghenos pair best with?

At what temperature should one serve it?

Where exactly does the Primitivo come from?
From the core area of Manduria south of Taranto in Apulia, secured by the DOC classification Primitivo di Manduria. Torrevento grows the grapes on the sunny plateaus of the region.
The Winery
Torrevento from Corato in Apulia bears its name for a good reason: "Tower of the Wind" – because it is the constant wind over the Alta Murgia that gives the vines natural ventilation and has given the winery its identity for generations.
The history of the Liantonio family begins in 1913, when the grandfather of the current president Francesco Liantonio emigrated to New York at the age of 16, returned in 1923, and in 1948 acquired a 17th-century Baroque Benedictine monastery along with 57 hectares of vineyards.
Today, Torrevento manages 500 hectares throughout Apulia and is considered one of the most consistent advocates of autochthonous grape varieties such as Nero di Troia, Primitivo, and Negroamaro. Multiple Gambero Rosso awards with the Tre Bicchieri prove that this standard arrives in the bottle.
