Torre del Falco Nero di Troia Puglia IGT

Torre del Falco Nero di Troia Puglia IGT
An uncomplicated red wine from southern Italy that shows what the autochthonous Nero di Troia variety can achieve in Apulia: dark fruit, round structure, immediately approachable.
Torrevento is one of the most renowned wineries in the Castel del Monte DOC of Apulia. Located in northern Apulia on the Murgia plateau, the winery has been working for decades to bring indigenous grape varieties like Nero di Troia out of the shadow of mass production in southern Italy. Their Torre del Falco is their entry-level wine for this variety and was featured in Gambero Rosso in 2018 as one of Italy's best wine buys.
In the glass, a deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, ripe blackberry, plum, and a hint of violet. On the palate, soft tannins, moderate acidity, and a touch of dark berry fruit that lingers into the finish. A slight residual sweetness makes the wine exceptionally drinkable—without feeling heavy.
