Domaine Chanson Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses Premier Cru

The Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru “Les Vergelesses” from Domaine Chanson comes from one of the quiet pearls of the Côte de Beaune — less known than Pommard or Volnay, but with the potential to surprise both.

Domaine Chanson manages a contiguous parcel of 5.4 hectares in this climat — a remarkable size for Burgundy. The site lies in a natural depression at the foot of the Corton hill, where clay and limestone form a soil structure that gives the Pinot Noir both depth and tension. Chanson is one of the oldest Négociant houses in the Côte de Beaune, founded in 1750, and has been consistently focused on quality since its acquisition by the Bollinger Group.

In the glass, a deep dark violet appears. On the nose, ripe black cherry, cassis, and blackberry, underscored by clove and a hint of toasted oak. On the palate, dense, velvety texture with firmly integrated tannins — no sharp bite, but a palpable backbone. The finish is long, with a spicy-mineral note that points to the limestone in the subsoil.

With development potential until 2032. Serving temperature: 16–17 °C. Pairs with braised lamb shoulder, entrecôte with herb butter, or a strong Époisses.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most renowned wineries in the Burgundy region. It is one of the few wineries that has remained in existence since the 18th century.

Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has carried out extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the best in Burgundy. Amidst the picturesque hills stretch the 45 hectares of vineyards, which thrive in the most prestigious sites such as Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis.

Here, tradition and modernity merge into a unique symbiosis that gives every wine a special touch. The historic bastion, a wine cellar from the 15th century, is the heart of the winery.

In these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under perfect conditions. Every bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
