Wolfberger Pinot Gris Grand Cru stallion

The vineyard is one of the most famous Grands Crus of Alsace — a calcareous, south-facing terroir near Wintzenheim, which is particularly well-suited to Pinot Gris. Wolfberger, the large Alsatian winegrowers' cooperative with over 100 years of history, produces a Pinot Gris with real depth here.

In the glass, it displays the typical style of the stallion: ripe yellow pear, quince paste, and a hint of white pepper, underpinned by a slightly smoky minerality. The body is opulent, the texture almost oily—the tannins of the Pinot Gris carry the wine through to the long, slightly spicy finish.

The acidity is moderate and well integrated, making it approachable even now. With a few years of cellaring (drinking window until 2030), it will develop additional complexity.

Wolfberger

Wolfberger is the leading wine brand of Alsace – founded in 1902 in Eguisheim, known under this name since 1976, and still a benchmark for Alsatian quality. Around 450 contracted winegrowers cultivate 1,200 hectares of vineyards stretching almost 100 kilometers from north to south, encompassing 15 Grand Cru vineyards and approximately 13,000 parcels. As the largest Crémant producer in Alsace, Wolfberger produces roughly half of the region's sparkling wines – using the traditional method of extended lees contact. Organic certification for more than 15 years and several ISO awards attest to its serious commitment to quality and sustainability.
