Very Old Rare Sherry (VORS) Palo Cortado in gift box 0.5L

A Palo Cortado for quiet evenings: dry, complex, and with the spice of an Amontillado, but the depth of an Oloroso. This VORS from Emilio Lustau shows what the Palomino Fino grape variety is capable of.

Lustau is one of the well-known Sherry bodegas of Andalusia; the wines come from the Sherry region around Jerez. The abbreviation VORS stands for "Very Old Rare Sherry," a classification for Sherrys with a minimum age of 30 years. The half-bottle with 0.5 liters is suitable for a wine that one drinks in small sips.

Topaz-colored in the glass with copper reflections. Intense on the nose: pecans, fine woods, dried orange peel, and dry tobacco leaves. Slightly bitter, spicy, and salty on the palate, with notes of dark chocolate and nuts. The finish is very long and echoes with elegant spice.

Serve it at 12–14 °C in a small white wine glass. It pairs well with aged Manchego, Serrano ham, roasted almonds, or braised beef cheek. After a meal, it also tastes great solo, with a piece of dark chocolate.

Emilio Lustau

Emilio Lustau is one of the most renowned sherry bodegas in Spain – and a real insider tip for anyone who really wants to understand fortified wines.

In sun-drenched Jerez de la Frontera, where 300 days of sunshine a year set the rhythm, sherries of impressive depth are produced: nutty Amontillados, velvety Pedro Ximénez, and the salty, vibrant Manzanilla Papirusa – matured under the cool sea breeze of the Guadalquivir. Each glass tells a story of time, craftsmanship, and a distinctive terroir.

Prepare to be surprised – Lustau will show you how versatile and fascinating sherry can truly be.
