Solera Familiar Cream Capataz Andrés

A Cream Sherry from the house of Emilio Lustau: Capataz Andrés combines an Oloroso with Pedro Ximénez, both aged in the classic Solera system in Jerez. The result is a dense, but by no means heavy, sweet wine from Andalusia.

Emilio Lustau is one of the most traditional bodegas in Jerez de la Frontera and is known for its Almacenista sherries and careful Solera maintenance. The base is the Palomino Fino grape variety, which gives the dry Oloroso its nutty, spicy structure, while the Pedro Ximénez provides concentrated sweetness.

On the nose, smoky wood, dates, figs, and raisins – typical Solera aromas with oxidative depth. On the palate, the sherry feels surprisingly silky; the sweetness of the PX is balanced by the clear acidity of the Palomino. Not a heavyweight, but a round, elegant finish with a long aftertaste.

Serve it well chilled at 8–10 °C as a digestif, with blue cheese, walnut tart, or dark chocolate. Also a classic of Andalusian cuisine when poured over vanilla ice cream.
