The soil composition there encourages the vines to root extremely deep, and they are supplied with highly mineralized groundwater through the Taunus quartzite. The westerly winds that constantly sweep across the Johannisberg plateau ensure rapid drying, even after rain, resulting in perfectly healthy grapes. This produces fresh, juicy, top-quality wines.
