Trenz Pinot Blanc off-dry

Weißburgunder feinherb is a style that lies between two stools – and that is precisely what makes this wine from Michael Trenz interesting: ripe fruit, but not heavy, a hint of residual sweetness, but clearly structured.

The Michael Trenz winery is one of the established names in German winemaking, known for its meticulous craftsmanship and emphasis on varietal character. Pinot Blanc – known as Weißburgunder in France – is one of the most rewarding grape varieties: it delivers richness without heaviness and aromatic clarity without being overpowering.

In the glass, nectarine, apple, and yellow plum emerge – a typical, fresh, and ripe fruit profile for Pinot Blanc. The mouthfeel is rounded, with a soft texture pleasantly balanced by the subtle residual sweetness. The acidity remains present enough to give the wine vibrancy – it feels lively, not flat. The finish is short to medium-long, fresh, and clean.

Weingut Michael Trenz

The Trenz winery in the Rheingau – founded in 1670. Michael Trenz has been running the family business as owner and cellar master since 1998. On nearly 15 hectares, primarily Riesling is grown, along with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc. The soils consist of Taunus quartzite with a humus layer of only ten centimeters – barren, and for that very reason, mineral-rich. Among the best sites are the Johannisberger Hölle and the Johannisberger Vogelsang. In 2008, Gault Millau named the estate the Discovery of the Year. Since 2002, two hectares in Stellenbosch have been part of the estate – Rheingau signature at the Cape.
