Trenz Pinot Gris dry

A Pinot Gris that shows what this grape variety can do when you don't force too much on it: fresh, aromatic, with a real drinkability.

The Michael Trenz winery is located in Rheinhessen, one of Germany's largest wine-growing regions—known for its loess and limestone soils, which lend white wines a certain richness. Trenz focuses on meticulous cellar management and clear varietal typicity: what ends up in the glass should reflect the fruit of the vintage, not the cellar.

This Pinot Gris was vinified using the white winemaking method—meaning the skins barely come into contact with the must. The result is a bright, vibrant profile: grapefruit and white peach on the nose, with a hint of pear compote. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with fresh acidity without any harshness, and a short, clean finish.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Pairs well with seared scallops, pasta with cream sauce, goat cheese, or light summer dishes. Also a good choice as a simple aperitif.

Weingut Michael Trenz

The Trenz winery in the Rheingau – founded in 1670. Michael Trenz has been running the family business as owner and cellar master since 1998. On nearly 15 hectares, primarily Riesling is grown, along with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc. The soils consist of Taunus quartzite with a humus layer of only ten centimeters – barren, and for that very reason, mineral-rich. Among the best sites are the Johannisberger Hölle and the Johannisberger Vogelsang. In 2008, Gault Millau named the estate the Discovery of the Year. Since 2002, two hectares in Stellenbosch have been part of the estate – Rheingau signature at the Cape.
