Trenz Steinhaus Riesling dry
Quartzite soil, salty minerality and clear fruit — the Steinhaus Riesling from Michael Trenz is a dry Rheinhessen Riesling with a truly distinctive character.
The Michael Trenz winery from Rheinhessen focuses on precise vinification and terroir expression. Since 2011, their Steinhaus Riesling has carried a special mark of trust: it is the official white wine at the home matches of the German national football teams – both women's and men's. No wine that holds that position can be just any wine.
In the glass, the typical Riesling character of the region is evident: pomelo and orange form the citrus-forward fruit profile, complemented by fresh apple. The acidity is present but not harsh—supported by a salty-mineral note that directly reflects the quartzite soil. The finish is dry and invigorating.
Serving temperature 8–10 °C. Pairs well with grilled sea bass, goat cheese salad, or a summery risotto with lemon zest . Also a solid companion as an uncomplicated aperitif.

The Trenz winery in the Rheingau – founded in 1670. Michael Trenz has been running the family business as owner and cellar master since 1998. On nearly 15 hectares, primarily Riesling is grown, along with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc. The soils consist of Taunus quartzite with a humus layer of only ten centimeters – barren, and for that very reason, mineral-rich. Among the best sites are the Johannisberger Hölle and the Johannisberger Vogelsang. In 2008, Gault Millau named the estate the Discovery of the Year. Since 2002, two hectares in Stellenbosch have been part of the estate – Rheingau signature at the Cape.
