Trenz Riesling Sparkling Wine Brut

The Trenz winery has cultivated the tradition of winemaking and vinification since 1670 and has remained in the family ever since. On 10 hectares of vineyards, 85% Riesling, 12% Pinot Noir, and 3% Pinot Blanc are planted. Michael Trenz, a representative of the younger generation of winemakers, has managed the estate since 1998. His goal is to combine tradition with modern techniques while striving for the highest possible quality. Goethe described the Johannisberg vineyard with the phrase: "The Johannisberg reigns supreme." Known as the "crown of the Rheingau," this prominent quartzite hill presents itself in all directions and, thanks to its southern exposure and microclimate, fulfills the highest requirements for the Riesling grape. Vineyards on the Johannisberg were first documented in 817. Over the centuries, numerous noble families, monasteries, and family-run businesses have settled around Johannisberg, many of which still cultivate wine today. Examples include Schloss Johannisberg, Schloss Vollrads, the estate of the Prince of Hesse, Baron von Brentano, and the Monastery of St. Hildegard, to name just a few. Johannisberg owes its nickname, "Village of Wine and Roses," to the lavish display of blooming roses.

Michael Trenz Winery

The Trenz winery in the Rheingau – founded in 1670. Today, young winemaker Michael Trenz runs the family business. At the age of 21, he took over as owner and cellar master. Courage that pays off. On 18 hectares of vineyards with mineral-rich soils of Taunus quartzite, loess loam, slate, and sandstone, mainly Riesling (85 percent) as well as Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grow. Among the best sites are the Johannisberger Hölle and the Johannesberger Vogelsang. "Michael Trenz manages to unlock the full potential of Riesling" (Focus.de). No wonder he is the official supplier to Federal President Steinmeier for state banquets. Rheingau love at its finest.
