Steinberger Riesling feinherb VDP Ortswein Magnum

The Steinberger Riesling feinherb comes from one of Germany's most famous single vineyards – and the magnum bottle gives it the space it deserves.

Eberbach Monastery has cultivated the Steinberg vineyard since 1136. The historic wall that completely encloses the site makes it the oldest Clos vineyard in Germany. The soil, composed of Taunus quartzite and slate, imparts a characteristic minerality to each vintage. The winery is now a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) and counts the Steinberg among its village wines – a category that stands for typicality of the site and meticulous craftsmanship.

In the glass, the 2023 vintage displays ripe peach and apricot, underpinned by citrus zest and a hint of white peach blossom. The residual sweetness is subtle – "off-dry" here means noticeable, but by no means dominant, fruitiness, balanced by lively acidity. The finish is fresh, with a mineral and saline aftertaste.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Drinking window: now until 2030. The magnum bottle matures more slowly and evenly – ideal if you want to save the wine for a special occasion.
Goes well with: salmon with dill sauce, Asian cuisine with a slight spiciness, goat cheese or as an accompaniment to a long summer evening at the table.
