Steinberger Riesling feinherb VDP Ortswein Magnum

Steinberger Riesling feinherb VDP Ortswein Magnum
The Steinberger Riesling Off-Dry comes from one of Germany's most famous single vineyards – and the magnum bottle gives it the space it deserves.
Kloster Eberbach has been cultivating the Steinberg since 1136. The historic wall that completely encloses the site makes it the oldest Clos in Germany. The soil of Taunus quartzite and slate shapes every vintage with a characteristic minerality. The winery is now part of the VDP and counts the Steinberg among its local wines – a category that stands for site typicity and artisanal care.
In the glass, the 2023 shows ripe peach and apricot, underscored by lemon zest and a hint of white peach blossom scent. The residual sweetness is subtle – off-dry here means noticeable but by no means dominant fruitiness, which is kept in balance by lively acidity. The finish is fresh, with a mineral-salty aftertaste.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. The magnum bottle ages more slowly and evenly – ideal if you want to save the wine for a special occasion.
Pairs with: Salmon with dill sauce, Asian cuisine with light spice, goat cheese, or as a companion to a long summer evening at the table.
