Steinberger Zehntstück Riesling Erste Lage dry

The Steinberg, once the favorite vineyard of the Cistercian monks of Eberbach Abbey, is a 37-hectare monopole vineyard. Like the famous Grand Crus of Burgundy, it is enclosed by a 4-meter-high, 3-kilometer-long wall to protect it from grape thieves and wildlife. This wall also protects it from cold winds, allowing the warmth to linger in the vineyard longer in the evenings, enabling the grapes to ripen more healthily. Elegant impression; fragrant with Granny Smith apples, apple blossoms, delicate pear compote and sweet vernal grass, and notes of lemon balm; full-bodied and fruity on the palate; light and elegant, fresh with Granny Smith apple fruit, subtle pineapple notes, perceptible minerality, and a fine, lingering finish. James Suckling awarded it 94 points for the 2022 vintage.
