Cabernet Sauvignon Kloster Reserve VDP Gutswein

Kloster Eberbach proves that the Rheingau can also do red wine with this Cabernet Sauvignon — structured, spicy and with clear aging potential.

Kloster Eberbach is one of the oldest and most important wineries in Germany. Winegrowing has been practiced on the monastery estate since the 12th century; today, the winery manages around 190 hectares in the Rheingau and on the Hessische Bergstraße. The Cabernet Sauvignon Kloster Reserve is classified as a VDP estate wine and shows how well the grape variety can ripen in the continental climate of the Rheingau.

In the glass, the wine presents a deep ruby red. In the nose, black currant and plum, underlaid by cedar wood and clove — typical Cabernet signature. On the palate, powerful but ripe tannins, a taut structure and a long, slightly mineral finish.

Recommendation: Best served at 17–18 °C. Goes well with braised beef shoulder, leg of lamb with rosemary or mature hard cheese.
