Steinberger Riesling dry VDP village wine

The Steinberger Riesling from Kloster Eberbach shows what the Hessian Bergstrasse and the Rheingau can do when history and modern winemaking come together: a dry Riesling with clear fruit, lively acidity and real depth.

Eberbach Monastery is one of Germany's oldest and most important winegrowing estates – the Cistercian monastery has cultivated the Steinberg vineyard since the 12th century. Located behind a historic wall in the Rheingau region, the vineyard is considered one of the most distinctive single vineyard sites in German wine history. As a VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) village wine, the Steinberger Riesling embodies the typical style of the site: mineral, precise, and with great potential for aging.

In the glass, it displays white peach and pineapple, complemented by fresh lime and a hint of honeysuckle. The acidity is lively yet finely integrated – no harshness, no overpowering. The finish is long and saline, with the minerality imparted by the Steinberg soil of clay slate and loess. James Suckling's 92 points confirm the vintage's exceptional quality.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with cured salmon, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or a mature goat cheese. Drinking window: now until 2028.
