Pierpaolo Pecorari Refosco IGT
Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is one of Friuli's quintessential grape varieties—rich in tannins, full of character, with a tart, spicy note that distinguishes it from most Italian red wines. Pierpaolo Pecorari has consciously preserved these characteristics.
The winery is located in the Collio and Isonzo vineyards of northeastern Italy—a region known for its aromatic precision. Pecorari works closely with the grape varieties: The Refosco is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (26–28 °C) and then aged for six months in French oak barrels. Minimal oak influence, maximum fruitiness.
In the glass, it displays a ruby red color with lilac reflections. The nose offers aromas of ripe plum and dark blackberry, with an underlying earthy, slightly peppery note. On the palate, noticeable tannins are paired with invigorating acidity—typical for the variety, not overly smooth. The finish is dry and spicy.
