Pierpaolo Pecorari Chardonnay Venezia Giulia IGT

Pierpaolo Pecorari Chardonnay Venezia Giulia IGT
A Chardonnay that combines the coolness of the Friulian climate with the richness of barrique fermentation — not a buttery southern French style, but something leaner, more vibrant.
Pierpaolo Pecorari manages his vineyard in San Lorenzo Isontino, in the Collio border region , where the Alps moderate the climate and the Adriatic Sea brings freshness. The grapes for this Venezia Giulia IGT grow on Ponca—the region's typical flaky clay marl—and are fermented in barrels at a controlled, cool temperature of 19–21 °C. Weekly bâtonnage (stirring of the lees) provides texture and that subtle nuttiness that distinguishes it from a Chardonnay fermented solely in stainless steel tanks.
In the glass, it displays a straw-yellow color with golden reflections. The nose is dominated by ripe apple and white blossoms, followed by a subtle hint of hazelnut. On the palate, it is fresh and medium-bodied, with a clean acidity and a harmonious, not overly long finish.
Serving suggestion: Drink now, 10–12 °C. Pairs well with risotto ai frutti di mare, grilled sea bass with lemon, or a mild goat cheese.

Pierpaolo Pecorari's small but exquisite winery is nestled in the enchanting region between the sea and the mountains of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Located on the left bank of the Isonzo River, the "Azienda Agricola Pierpaolo Pecorari" estate was officially certified organic in 2007 and encompasses approximately 30 hectares of vineyards. It is precisely for this reason that PP does not market its wines as mass-produced goods, but rather focuses on conveying a love for its wines to the wine lover.
