Donnafugata Anthilia Sicilia

The Anthilia is Donnafugata's calling card for Sicilian white wine: uncomplicated in the best sense, but with the unmistakable character of the island.

Donnafugata is one of Sicily's most well-known wineries and has been family-owned since the 1980s. The name comes from Tomasi di Lampedusa's novel The Leopard. The grapes for the Anthilia grow on the Contessa Entellina estate in the southwest of the island – a continental inland climate with hot days and cool nights that brings freshness to the wines.

In the glass, light straw yellow. The nose shows white peach, citrus blossom, and a typically Sicilian hint of macchia – rosemary, dry herbs, a touch of almond. On the palate, fresh and supple, with lively acidity and a clean, mineral finish. No oak, no heavyweight – a wine that does not push itself into the foreground.
