Donnafugata Anthilia Sicilia

Anthilia is Donnafugata's calling card for Sicilian white wine: uncomplicated in the best sense, but with the unmistakable character of the island.

Donnafugata is one of Sicily's most renowned wineries and has been family-owned since the 1980s. The name comes from Tomasi di Lampedusa's novel * The Leopard* . The grapes for the Anthilia grow on the Contessa Entellina estate in the southwest of the island – a continental inland climate with hot days and cool nights, which imparts freshness to the wines.

In the glass, a pale straw yellow. The nose reveals white peach, citrus blossom, and a typical Sicilian hint of maquis – rosemary, dried herbs, and a touch of almond. On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, with lively acidity and a clean, mineral finish. No oak, no heaviness – a wine that doesn't push itself forward.

Donnafugata

Donnafugata – “woman on the run.” The name references the novel “Il Gattopardo” and the story of a queen who found refuge precisely where the vineyards now lie. This is the inspiration for the logo. Giacomo Rallo founded the winery in 1983 with his wife Gabriella. He came from a family with over 160 years of experience in quality winemaking and revolutionized the style of Sicilian wines. Until his death in 2016, he led the winery with vision. Today, José and Antonio Rallo, the fifth generation, manage a team of professionals who share excellence and the Italian way of life with the world – always seeking new challenges.
