Donnafugata Tancredi Dolce&Gabbana Terre Siciliane
Donnafugata's Tancredi is a prime example of what Sicily can do when native grape varieties meet international craftsmanship: dark, complex, with real aging potential.
The Donnafugata winery has been in Sicilian hands for generations and cultivates vineyards in the southwest of the island as well as on Pantelleria. The Tancredi – named after the character from Tomasi di Lampedusa's The Leopard – blends Nero d'Avola with Cabernet Sauvignon and is aged in barriques. The result: a wine with a Sicilian soul and a classic structure.
In the glass, the 2021 vintage displays an intense, dark ruby red. The nose offers aromas of dried plums and blueberries, with hints of licorice, tobacco, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, it is dry and powerful, with velvety, fine-grained tannins – the oak is well-integrated and not overpowering. The finish is long and spicy. Falstaff awarded the vintage 93 points .
